Tauranga Neurology Course (TNC) commenced
in 1996 and has an established place in the post-graduate
medical registrars preparing for the FRACP. Held over
two days in the first week of May, the TNC is open
to NZ medical registrars eligible to sit the FRACP clinical
exams - which are held in June.
The reputation of the course owes much to the willingness
of NZ neurologists who travel to act as tutors (5 join
Dr Chancellor for each TNC); the many patients who participate
in short case teaching and the Bay of Plenty District
Board, who provide a venue within the Education Centre
and the Out-Patient Department, Tauranga Hospital.
The TNC has a unique niche, without specific university
affiliations or NZQA recognition - but its reputation
for high quality
patient centered teaching means that the 42 places available
are allocated to eligible registrars or others, by ballot,
after registration of interest.
Dr. Chancellor is the course convenor, the administration
of the course is from his private practice. Registration
information for any given year is made available on this
site, in February each year.
